| | | | The story of Vijay and Ajith seem to go hand in hand. They started their careers at almost the same time, their growth in the industry too has been synchronous. Today, they stand as the two biggest figures in the industry, coming only after the legends. With their 49th films getting ready for release, let's take a look at some of their films that have led them to this number. Their 9th, 19th, 29th, 39th and 49th films respectively. Then, we are set for the countdown to the hugely expected 50th films. 9. Vijay – Poove Unakkaga
This is considered to be one of Vijay's first big hits that put him into the big league. A love story with a huge number of twists and turns.
9. Ajith - Minor Mappillai
This is remembered more for Vadivelu than for Ajith, mainly because this was a comic caper, the focus was on the comedian more than the hero. It was well received.
 19. PriyamudanThis was Vijay's first role that had shades of grey. He hasn't done many such roles after. The egoistic and possessive character played by him in the movie was widely appreciated. The romance in this movie blossomed around a lie fabricated by Vijay's character. 19. Uyirodu UyiragaUyirodu Uyiraga's similarity with Vijay's 19th film is unmistakable. Here too, the romance is built around a lie that the heroine makes up to get the attention of Ajith's character. But here, the lie eventually turns out to be true. 29. BadriOne of the few movies in Vijay's career that has a place of prominence for sports, Vijay's portrayal of the lazy loafer character who finds a new meaning in the unfinished job of his brother is counted among his best ones. 29. DheenaAjith's 29th is perhaps one which launched him as a mass hero in a big way. Ajith was in his element as Dheena, the rough and tough character who had a heart of gold. His performance, be it in the fights or in the romantic scenes was highly appreciated. 39. MadhuraFor Vijay fans, this was a bit of a disappointment because it came immediately after Ghilli. After the blockbuster, everyone was expecting this one to go even higher. Sadly, the film couldn't live up to the expectations though it had all the regular elements of a Vijay starrer. 39. AttagasamThe Ajith-Saran team had always been a lucky one. This time too the lucky team worked, though not as well as everyone would have expected. But, it was clearly a relief for all Ajith fans as it ended a bleak run which included films like Jana and Anjaneya. 49. Vettaikaran
Releasing this Friday, Vettaikaran carries a lot of expectations. Viay pairs up for the first time with Anushka. The music is already a hit and the trailers have suggested an out and out entertainer for all Vijay fans.
49. Asal
The Ajith-Saran team comes together for the Ultimate Star's 49th film. Expected for January 2010, the film has already generated positive vibes due to Ajith's new look. It will be interesting to see whether the successful team comes good once again, especially with the 'Don' theme that has worked so well for Ajith before.
