From heroes to brand ambassadors
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, April 21, 2011]

A steady trend is slowly creeping into the world of the ad industry. Just a few years back all ads irrespective of the product it had to promote had a pretty woman's face with a broad smile pasted on the face promoting the product. But this trend slowly started changing a couple of years back. The ad industry, which usually had women models to campaign on a product slowly started turning to men and more promptly film stars.

Many years back heroes would appear as brand ambassadors for a shaving cream or to promote alcoholic drinks.

Now we have our heroes as brand ambassadors for products ranging from jewellery to gold loans to cloth stores. If it is Vijay endorsing the Jos Alukkas brand, it is Vikram for Manapuram gold loans, or actor-politician Sarath Kumar for Francis Alukkas. If Sathyaraj appears as an emperor to promote Pothy's it is heart throb Suriya promoting Saravana Stores, Navrathana products and Sunrise café along with wife Jyothika.

These are just a few mass favorities. There are many more ad churning out with the top heroes promoting the products.

The brand makers are confident of selling their products if a popular face with class and mass appeal becomes their ambassador. And our people being very brand conscious and at the same time yearning to look better and ape the film stars are easily sold by the effective ads that come to our halls through the multitude of channels that are easily accessible even to a child.
