Nanban sets vandalised!

Mobs go berserk to get a glimpse of their favourite stars

All was well with the unit of Shankar's Nanban on Sunday (July 24) until an over-excited group of fans decided to turn up on the sets, eager to catch their favourite stars in action. After some time, the crowd apparently went berserk and started acting unruly, trying to mob the actors. It wasn't until the cops were called in to pacify the crowd that Shankar was able to resume shoot.
An eyewitness says, "Shankar was shooting a sequence with Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth in a medical college in the city when a huge crowd of nearly 200 people, turned up on the sets. The three actors and Shankar obliged and waved to the crowd. They even spoke a few words, after which they turned to get back to work. But the crowd wouldn't let them resume shooting. They tried to get close to the actors and even tried touching them. For them, seeing a big star like Vijay was a thrill and they went crazy. Bouncers had to escort the actors to safety. Then the crowd insisted on peeking inside all the caravans to see if they had missed any other stars. In the process, a few window panes were smashed and broken."

The witness adds, "Shankar and his team understood what it means for the fans to spot their favourite actors in person and talk to them and so, spent some time with them. Despite this, the fans weren't satisfied and that upset the entire crew."

Another source informs, "Security has been beefed up on the sets now. Everyone entering the premises is being checked . Shankar is a private person and he doesn't want any such incidents hindering the smooth progression of his schedule, which will go on till

the second week of August."
